The heavy assault rifle is a new weapon found in Doom's 2016 reboot. Its role as a high rate of fire, conventional bullet-based weapon is shared with the chaingun and at least one other currently unknown weapon, but its versatility is exposed through a number of upgrades available for it.
Upgrades
- Mini missiles
- The mini missile upgrade provides a dramatic temporary power increase, allowing the firing of a small number of armor-piercing explosive rounds. The pack of rounds attach to the left side of the rifle, which has a port accepting the ammo pack.
- Tactical scope
- This upgrade's qualities have not fully been revealed, and it may in fact be the base form of the weapon. It is known to enable use of sniping tactics, with a special display appearing on the game's HUD.
