The plasma rifle weapon returns in the 2016 Doom reboot. Based on an early 21st century high-intensity plasma gun design, it has been enhanced with portable electromagnetic particle accelerator technology developed at the Argent facility on Mars. After these enhancements, it has become a standard equip for many militaries. Its plasmoid projectiles cause damage through both kinetic and thermal energy.[1] It has a high rate of fire, emitting small bright blue discrete spheres of plasma.
Upgrades
- Stun shot
- Possibly the default mode of the plasma rifle, its qualities versus those of the base weapon are currently unknown. It can be speculated that the stun rate for damage done by the weapon is increased in this mode, however, given its name.
