I don't think so.  From what I recall when hacking together a map editor, it works just like Wolf 3D, with the walls laid in as different tile types and the picking of alternate shaded textures done automatically.  Since the source is now released, someone can probably confirm this definitively. -- ETTiNGRiNDER (talk) 17:16, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

: Could be possible. I only have a few shots to go off and I'm not seeing the directional consistency that exists in Wolfenstein 3D, but that may be selection bias and/or have another explanation (different but similar looking textures). The game has legendary "blur-o-vision" so it's kinda hard to tell. --Quasar (talk) 17:38, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

: I verified you were correct w/Blzut3 and amended the article to reflect that Catacomb and Wolf work the same way. --Quasar (talk) 14:38, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Catacomb 3D[edit]

"Catacomb 3-D, alternates differently shaded textures instead, though there seems to be flexibility in the assignment."
