Far more than possible, considering Cygnus also later licensed the Doom engine in order to create Strife. We know how that turned out, though ;) --Quasar (talk) 09:20, 19 July 2015 (CDT)

Hopefully not too tenuous a concept for an article. There were enough connections to Doom that it seemed justifiable. Fraggle (talk) 14:59, 18 July 2015 (CDT)

By the same reasoning, we should have an article about every Valve game that used the same installer routine as Doom95.    Ryan W (talk) 18:25, 18 July 2015 (CDT)
I'm for it. It's just a nice tidbit about the incestous nature of the early 90s game industry. --Linguica (talk) 21:18, 18 July 2015 (CDT)
I don't see it as being similar to the installer routine thing. The two common points between Doom and Raptor are 1. a sound library that only they use (so it's more relevant than if it was a widespread sound library, like HMS or MSS, both of which have been used by hundreds of titles) and 2. a setup utility that, again, is only used by Doom engine games and Raptor, and that id actually took from Raptor. So it's a bit tenuous but it's not entirely trivial, and I don't see where else it'd get documented. --Gez (talk) 02:50, 19 July 2015 (CDT)
That makes a lot more sense; thank you.  To your last point, it is documented where one would expect, in Setup program (twice) and DMX.  If we had an Apogee article, it might go in the trivia section there also.    Ryan W (talk) 03:06, 19 July 2015 (CDT)

"Possible" connection to Cygnus[edit]

Far more than possible, considering Cygnus also later licensed the Doom engine in order to create Strife. We know how that turned out, though ;) --Quasar (talk) 09:20, 19 July 2015 (CDT)
