Spider Web.svgThis non-encyclopedia page is unlikely to represent community consensus. It may be a failed proposal, or a former guideline which (for whatever reason) now differs greatly from accepted editor behavior. The text below is retained for historical reference only.
Users wishing to revive the topic should research the community's current practices thoroughly, then gather project-wide support for the proposed new version of the page. Simply removing this tag after a yes/no vote on a talk page is insufficient.

Descendent of Template:HistoricalBox intended to warn readers that a page (which appears to be helpful documentation) is at odds with the wiki's current practices and attitudes. It is to be applied in project space, help space, and the like – never on articles or files, which should instead use Category:Historical (for intentionally outdated content) or a specific maintenance template.

This tag should be used with extreme caution, as it may raise a barrier to establishing firm consensus on a policy or procedure (by stating we don't have a status quo to fall back on), insinuate that certain prior edits were without consensus, and/or confuse users reading older discussions which refer to the page at hand.

When applying this tag, consider also removing the page from its "authoritative" categories (e.g. Help, Doom Wiki).
