Another issue I just noticed is that if you stick multiple paragraphs in this (as I did when trying to move the Hexen hub intermission texts into it), only the first paragraph gets the indent and italics applied.  Though I seem to recall some controversy as to whether copying over those intermission texts wholesale was really what we wanted, too. -- [[User:ETTiNGRiNDER|ETTiNGRiNDER]] ([[User talk:ETTiNGRiNDER|talk]]) 23:15, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

Auto-categorization[edit]

I believe we'd be best served by adjusting this template so that it can be used in contexts where there is no "source" to link to, such as the instruction manuals; unless we're going to add articles on the instruction manuals themselves (maybe not a terrible idea), every article citing them either has to "sinkhole" link to an only semi-relevant topic like the game's main article, or gets auto-catted as an "Article with unsourced quotes". This was probably copied verbatim from Wikipedia where there is obviously a higher standard for encyclopedic content than what we can even think about having here, given we cover things that would be off-topic there. We *are* to some extents a game guide, a repository for trivia, and try to retain information for which all or most of the primary sources have disappeared, for example. --Quasar (talk) 00:43, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

NB: I have created Doom instruction manual, others to follow. --Quasar (talk) 02:02, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Does not play nice with paragraphs[edit]

Another issue I just noticed is that if you stick multiple paragraphs in this (as I did when trying to move the Hexen hub intermission texts into it), only the first paragraph gets the indent and italics applied. Though I seem to recall some controversy as to whether copying over those intermission texts wholesale was really what we wanted, too. -- ETTiNGRiNDER (talk) 23:15, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

It's possible, but requires use of <br> tags instead of hard line breaks. For extended passages, something else besides this template is probably more appropriate. As far as verbatim quoting of large blocks of text, we tend to avoid it for copyright reasons if nothing else. --Quasar (talk) 15:46, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
