Sorry to bother you, a bit confused.[edit]

I'm currently trying to have the doxxed name removed from the Dark Exodus page, which is currently locked by Quasar. I won't bring it up after the name is removed (and I'm thankful that you guys are being understanding). DarkExodus (talk) 13:59, 29 September 2015 (CDT)

Yes, I am working on it (this is Quasar, but I am logged in under the bureaucrat account). --SpiderMastermind (talk) 14:00, 29 September 2015 (CDT)
Ah, okay. Thank you, Quasar! Your courteousness is much obliged. :) DarkExodus (talk) 14:03, 29 September 2015 (CDT)
My check of the user logs on this server show that you are editing from the same IP address as User:Monkeyofeons. I am afraid that in order for further action to be justified, proof of identity will in fact have to be provided in this case. --SpiderMastermind (talk) 14:09, 29 September 2015 (CDT)
DarkExodus also admits the samething on the other wiki and tells me that it's incorrect and says it's doxxed. Here in this worst wad review, it says his real name instead of Dark Exodus. Justice ∞ (talk) 20:42, 29 September 2015 (CDT)
Anyone can make that claim, but we're under no obligation to remove public information about a person unless they fall under EU jurisdiction, and even then they need to submit proper documentation of some kind for it to be a legal matter - otherwise, it is a service we provide to community members as a gesture of good faith when there is info they prefer not to have listed. The editor here first defaced the article by calling "himself" apparently, if you want to believe it is the same person, a troll, and added non-encyclopedic information defacing the article in a manner that bordered on vandalism - all without removing the name he claims offends him - before turning around and registering another account claiming to be that person. I am not convinced that this is more than an elaborate trolling attempt in and of itself at the current time. My email contact information and - if necessary, legal contact information - are available however, if he wants to further the discussion appropriately. --Quasar (talk) 22:23, 29 September 2015 (CDT)
The summary of one of his changes to the page on the other wiki was "no doxxing allowed." when he removed the name. I also removed the information about him being a cannibal troll because MonkeyofEons put it there to make the person look better than what he already was. I guess I'll let him have his way unless there a good reason for me to change the name of the article back to the way it was. Justice ∞ (talk) 23:20, 29 September 2015 (CDT)
I can provide my own identification if need be, but this is no elaborate trolling effort. I'm legitimately depressed. I read a few messages from 2013 between the two of you, in which Quasar mentioned that perhaps certain users wouldn't want their names on the Wiki. So I thought to contact the two of you. I thought that with that mindset, perhaps, out of goodwill, I would be left alone and would have my name removed. When I made the mod, I was an angry 14 year old who was constantly being bullied, so my response was to try and annoy any cyber-bullies I could find. I already apologized. I honestly went to work today with a smile on my face, after reading Quasar's response. And now I'm awake thinking of how to explain myself to you two and having you actually understand me.
Would you like me to email you? Could you keep my email private? May I add you on Skype? How do I show you I'm not trolling? I'm beyond that. I'm not 14 anymore. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by DarkExodus (talkcontribs) 07:26 30 September 2015 (UTC).
Side note: I emailed the email on SpiderMastermind's page. Hope to hear from you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by DarkExodus (talkcontribs) 07:35 30 September 2015 (UTC).

False positive on abuse filter 7[edit]

See here.  The edit is correct, because the removed cat is superseded by a more specific cat from the navbox (not expanded I guess).  Apparently the user registered and changed it anyway [1], which is extraordinary — usually they just ragequit over the fascist admins.  OTOH given that 99.666% of such edits are vandalism, and the action is "warn" instead of "disallow", maybe we leave the filter as is?  Thanks, Ryan W (talk) 20:05, 25 April 2016 (CDT)

I'd recommend no change til it is proven to be a recurring problem. --Quasar (talk) 14:43, 27 April 2016 (CDT)

Spidering of non-pages[edit]

Good morning ma'am.  Years ago we discussed server reports showing that Google crawls old page versions, logs, redlinked subpages, edit forms, and similar detritus.  Is it still happening?

Generally, with a few exceptions, the devs have been reluctant to restrict this, sometimes even closing bugs without reading them (none of the above are namespaces).  That said, if it is causing you noticeable difficulty in maintenance, and updating robots.txt with a trowel doesn't help, we could maybe find a wiki willing to link some redacted output in a new bug (as I'm sure you are not :D  HTH.    Ryan W (living fossil) 09:28, 3 March 2018 (CST)

For the most part, no. I modified the Monaco skin specifically to add nofollow attributes on such interface links where it has control over them, and this cut down the amount of noise significantly. --Quasar (talk) 14:57, 3 March 2018 (CST)

I need help to reset my password[edit]

This is Diabolución, and I would need some help to reset my password. As proof of identity, I could send you via e-mail (the very same e-mail address I use for doomworld.com) my full real name (yes, I did bother to set it up). 46.27.162.183 00:18, 18 October 2020 (CDT)

OK. Go ahead and send the email to haleyjd AT hotmail.com, and also privmsg me on Doomworld if you could. --Quasar (talk) 00:25, 18 October 2020 (CDT)
Done and done. 46.27.162.183 00:55, 18 October 2020 (CDT)
Reseted successfully, thanks! Diabolución (talk) 02:48, 19 October 2020 (CDT)

Confirming email address[edit]

Hey there.

I was checking my preferences earlier, and noticed my email address is not confirmed, so I sent myself a confirmation message. However, no message ever arrived. Quasar said a while ago that Microsoft-owned domains will never receive any messages from DoomWiki due to the domain being blacklisted by MS because of a bot infection in a server years ago. I used a Gmail account to get around this, but no message ever arrives on any of my email folders (not even spam). Is there anything that can be done so I can confirm my email address? Hfc2x (talk) 21:02, 27 October 2020 (CDT)

Seconding this issue. Just registered a few hours ago but even after requesting a confirmation email multiple times and checking both my inbox and spam folders, I don't see anything coming through. Using a Gmail address BTW. WTV-411 (talk) 14:00, 25 May 2021 (CDT)
