Iikka Keränen (alias Fingers or fingers_) is one of the most well-known level designers in the Doom community after having introduced visual special effects undocumented for the Doom engine. He was a member of The Alpha Dog Alliance team on the production of STRAIN. In 1998, he was voted the best level maker in Doomworld's 5 Years of Doom celebration,[1] edging out his frequent collaborator Anthony Czerwonka (Adelusion).

In 1997 he moved onto the Quake community to release new levels, texture sets, and the popular mod AirQuake. He then joined the professional gaming industry with Ion Storm, working as a level designer for John Romero's Daikatana and Tom Hall's Anachronox. From 2001 through to sometime around 2021 he worked at Valve Software as a game designer,[2] while also simultaneously co-running his own indie studio Digital Eel, primarily developing the Infinite Space series of lunch-break space-roguelikes.

Iikka briefly returned to the Doom community in 2003 to release deathmatch PWAD Yesterday's Brownies, a Doom II conversion of his Quake II level IKDM9 (Farewell to Fudge Brownies).
