Doom Resurrection maps

Abaddon is the sixth level of Doom Resurrection and the second and last part of Hell visited in the game. The player continues searching for an exit. The bony zombie first appears here as an enemy, and two mancubi (the only two which appear in the game) serve as the level's boss. The plasma rifle is first found here. The marine continues to destroy all of the Hellish teleporters he comes across. This level has a par time of 16:00.

Walkthrough[edit]

Video playthrough by Andrew Stine (Linguica).

Essentials[edit]

Six teleporter gates are encountered throughout the level. Each one consists of three separate pillars that must be destroyed, which have a visible life bar. Imps, lost souls, and bony zombies will continue to attack while the gates are active so it may be necessary to spread out the player's attention.

The mancubi appear as a pair at the very end of the level and serve as a boss. They have a visible shared life bar. They will slowly move toward the player and will rapidly fire fireballs from their arm cannons, which must be dodged. It is critical to evenly divide damage between the two mancubi, as when one expires, the other will immediately begin closing to melee range. Once it arrives, it will repeatedly pound the marine using its arm cannons for massive damage until he dies. By dividing the damage evenly, once the first mancubus is dead the other can be killed before it can cross the remaining distance.

Trivia[edit]

  • This level shares the same name as a level of Doom II RPG.
  • The Hebrew term "Abaddon" (Hebrew: אֲבַדּוֹן, Avaddon, meaning "doom"), and its Greek equivalent "Apollyon" (Greek: Ἀπολλύων, Apollýōn) appear in the Bible as both a place of destruction and an archangel of the abyss. In the Hebrew Bible, abaddon is used with reference to a bottomless pit, often appearing alongside the place שְׁאוֹל (Sheol), meaning the realm of the dead.
