DETH (DOOM Editor for Total Headcases) is a GCC rewrite of DEU 5.21, supporting Doom, Ultimate Doom, Doom II, Heretic, Hexen and Strife, by Antony Burden and Simon Oke. DETH was updated by Jim Flynn in 1998 for use with Boom. The editor uses Zennode as its internal nodesbuilder. An extended version named ZETH was later created by Marisa Heit (Randi) for use with ZDoom.
2022 update
In 2022, Adam Bilbrough (Gibbon) released an updated version of DETH [1] for DOS, version 4.31. It includes the following changes:
- A new window for Legends. In this window, John Anderson (Dr. Sleep), Jim Flynn and Ty Halderman are honored for their contributions to Doom.
- The ability to run BSP (node builder) against a chosen PWAD from within DETH itself
- Bug fixes for HETH that prevented compilation
- Removed the text Supercharge Sphere from COMMON.CFG and replaced it with Soul Sphere
