Please categorize new map articles as follows.
 +
  By title: [[Category:Levels by name|Map Name (WAD Name)]] (no ExMy or MAP##).  This is automatic if you use the "name=" parameter with {{map}} (see below).
 +
  By author: [[Category:Firstname Lastname levels]] once for each credited designer.
 +
  By game title *IF* it is a commercial release (see Category:Stock levels).
 +
  If it is a secret level: [[Category:Secret levels]].
 +
  If it is missing most of its walkthrough information: {{Level stub}}
 +
Additionally, the {{map}} template below will automatically categorize it by slot (see Category:Levels by slot).  For single-level PWADs, add the parameter "nocat=true" to avoid this (otherwise Category:MAP01 would be swamped).  It will also automatically categorize the article by name, sorting it as if the specified slot was missing (see Category:Levels by name).  If the level title starts with "A" or "The", for proper sorting, add the parameter "name=X" where "X" is the name of the level without "A" or "The" at the beginning.

This should be placed at the top of every map article (see also [[Template:Map skel]]). Required parameter: * '''{{c|<nowiki>slot=</nowiki>}}''' is the level number in the Doom engine's usual format, e.g. ''E2M1'' or ''MAP05''. Optional parameters: * '''{{c|<nowiki>nocat=true</nowiki>}}''' suppresses categorization; use for single-map mods. * '''{{c|<nowiki>nocat=noname</nowiki>}}''' invokes the subcategory for levels without individual titles (e.g. [[E1M1 (Galaxia)|Galaxia]]). Ignored if the ''name'' parameter is used. This parameter may create strange results if the page title is not in the standard form ''SLOT (Mod Name).'' * '''{{c|<nowiki>nonstd=true</nowiki>}}''' categorizes non-standard slot numbers (i.e. other than ExMy and MAPzz) in the general "Non-standard map slots" category. * '''{{c|<nowiki>name=</nowiki>}}''' overrides automatic detection of the title, for example to ignore a leading "The" or "A". <u>Technical note about automatic sort keys:</u> The algorithm in this template is not designed to cover every possible grammatical situation (to avoid creating unmaintainable {{wp|Kudzu in the United States|kudzu}}). Unusual cases should be spot checked on category pages once they have updated, and if sorting is incorrect, just use '''{{c|nocat{{=}}true}}''' and manually add a [[mw:Help:Magic words#Technical metadata|DEFAULTSORT]] and the additional categories. In particular, there are known issues with: * Map names beginning with '''{{c|A}}''', '''{{c|An}}''', '''{{c|The}}''', or similar words in other languages. * Map names containing colons, where the mod is a single map not inhabiting MAP01 (e.g. [[Jägermörder 2: Terra Nova]]). * Custom map slot ''systems'' in advanced ports, especially containing spaces. Dark Side of the Mind is a 1995 Doom II map by Daniel Norman (Stormin). Originally released stand-alone on April 18, 1995, it was later incorporated without changes as the fifth map of The Final Gathering. The level is extremely non-linear and well-interconnected, designed to be used in deathmatch as well as in single-player mode.

The map makes use of an arch-vile to resurrect previously crushed monsters so as to repopulate an area, but contrarily to The Waterfront there are no author notes telling whether the ghost monster bug was actually desired.
