Doom 2 the Way id Did is a 2013 megawad for Doom II containing 32 new levels designed to mimic the mapping style of Sandy Petersen, John Romero and American McGee (plus a 33rd level as an Easter egg spoofing Betray). The project was a continuation of Doom the Way id Did. Instead of being themed after Wolfenstein 3D, the two secret levels are themed after Commander Keen.

The map set received one of the 2013 Cacowards.

Levels

† MAP08's name is displayed as "Starstruct, Inc" instead of "Quarantine" in the automap, to echo the Circle of Death/'O' of Destruction! situation of the original game.

Soundtrack

The soundtrack is mostly unmodified from the original, however MAP15 uses "Into Sandy's City" (MAP09's theme) instead of "Running from Evil". MAP31 uses "Make It Tighter" from Commander Keen V: The Armageddon Machine and MAP32 uses "You've Got to Eat Your Vegetables" from Commander Keen IV: Secret of the Oracle, both by Bobby Prince. Finally, MAP33 uses the text screen music.
