Doom II RPG is the sequel of Wolfenstein RPG, set before Doom RPG. It is made for mobile phones and iPhones. It uses the Wolfenstein RPG mobile engine. It was released on 11 December 2009, although it has made no appearances in any media, neither on the Internet nor printed media. As of January 2010 no retailers carry the release. It is made by id Software and published by EA Mobile, although it is officially created by id partners Fountainhead Entertainment via the merger id Mobile.

Playable Characters

You can play the game with three different characters:

Plot

Spoiler Warning: Plot details follow.

The game is chronologically set before Doom RPG. Secret experiments have taken place and incidents have happened on various UAC Bases located on Mars, Moon, Earth, Phobos, Deimos, et cetera. A team of soldiers accompanied by a scientist have ventured to the UAC base on the Moon to investigate, only to find the base is overrun by demons. At the beginning the group splits up and the player is on his/her own. Immediately noticed are conflicts between a UAC computer designated SAM and another unknown entity, designated VIOS. Conflicts with VIOS appear frequently in the game. After the player initially arrives in Hell s/he encounters the Pinkynator, a creature that spawns Pinkies. After passing through a portal the player finds her/himself on a UAC base on Earth. After re-entering Hell, the player encounters the Cyberdemon and finds out VIOS is the brain of another Icon of Sin. After the VIOS is defeated the game ends with an ominous sign off, letting the player know the fight is not over.

Weapons

Doom II RPG has a new set of weapons, complete with new graphics

  • Chainsaw (somewhat like the Doom 3 Chainsaw)
  • Assault Rifle (A modified version of Doom 3 Machinegun)
  • Scoped Assault Rifle (Assault Rifle with Sniper Scope)
  • Super Shotgun (super shotgun from Doom 3)
  • Chaingun (new graphic)
  • Plasma Gun (new graphic)
  • Rocket Launcher (new graphic)
  • BFG (similar to the original BFG 9000)
  • Holy Water Pistol (a water pistol charged with holy water, seemingly rather unholy since it can be refilled in toilets)
  • Shooting Sentry Bot (a controllable sentry bot)
  • Red Sentry Bot (a more powerful sentry)
  • Soul Cube (Soul cube from Doom III, can be obtained only in hell)
  • Toilets (you can pick up toilets and use them as projectiles)

Monsters

Doom II RPG uses the same hierarchical system for monsters, with classes of monsters individualized by colors. In addition to the classes in Doom RPG, Doom II RPG adds a new class; the Sawcubus Class.

  • Sawcubus Class

Lesser Sawcubus, Greater Sawcubus, and Chainstrosity

In addition to the new class of enemies the game has new, unique adversaries; the Watcher, the Sentinel, and the Pinkynator. The Pinkynator is a boss level entity, capable of spawning a room full of Pinkies.

Whether the VIOS is an entity in itself is debatable, since it is a product of the Icon of Sin.

Cut Content

Some content was cut from Doom II RPG during development. This is evident by comparing the game and the game trailer.

  • the original name of the Sawcubus was Chainsaw Goblin
  • Zombie names were similar to Doom RPG
  • a Heretic-Style enemy can be seen in the trailer, but not in the game

Cheat Mode

Similar to Doom RPG and Wolfenstein RPG cheat mode is activated on the menu screen by pressing 3666. From there you can choose cheats such as invincibility mode (aka God mode), walking through walls (noclip), full inventory (give all), complete level overview (give map), level skip (change map), and so on.
