Doom Italia is one of the most important Italian websites about Doom and, more generally speaking, the universe of first person shooter.

History of Doom Italia

Made at the end of 1990s, Doom Italia soon became very popular among Italian doomers. In 2001 the new version of the news board was installed, the one today online, which allows users to interact by rating the pieces of news and posting comments. Subsequently, the graphic interface of the site was modified a couple of times, but it was in 2003 that Doom Italia made the big step. On September 10, 2003 the site joined the SpazioGames network, one of the biggest Italian videogames' networks. In 2004 Doom III was launched and Doom Italia reaches the apex of popularity, with hundreds of visitors every day and dozens of messages posted on forum to discuss of hardware config, optimal settings, and much more. In the month of September of the same year it became necessary for technical reasons to rewrite the web code, but due to job duties of the webmasters, the work was never completed at 100%. But it made no problem for the community: news, articles and forum continued to function regularly, and even if some links on the left bar don't work, Doom Italia continues to be a must for all Italian doomers and first person shooter players.

Doom Italia today

Today, after the launch of Doom III and Quake IV, the main topics of news and forum discussions are: maps, mods, patches and tools (generally speaking additive material) for the games of Doom and Quake series (particularly Doom 3 and Quake 4, but even the previous chapters of both series); graphical hardware; first person shooter just launched or which are going to be launched (e.g. Prey, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars); first person shooter tournaments (most of all the QuakeCon); interviews and polls; first person shooters in general. But there aren't these the only topics of news and forum; listing all of them isn't easy, due to the fact that they are variable in time.

Doom Italia community

Today the site is viewed by about 100 users per day. Since the first day online, Doom Italia has been viewed by over 470,000 users.
