Doom Wiki:Information removal requests

This page is an official log of personality rights issues and measures taken to resolve them. See the talk page for information on requests that were handled before the establishment of this formal logging procedure.

Doom Wiki Project staff will consider requests for removal of personally identifying information. This can include names, locations, personally relevant dates, gender or sexual orientation, any external links which may reveal additional information or tie together multiple online profiles, and other information on a case-by-case basis. However, this does not include a basic listing of otherwise publicly available published works or accomplishments. Please note that because of this, this policy does not allow for a complete removal of a person article at that person's request, for which the regular deletion process applies.

Jmickle

Requested removal of real name; name was removed but user declined use of revision suppression. --SpiderMastermind (talk) 10:01, 30 September 2015 (CDT)

Dark Exodus

Requested removal of all instances of real name. I investigated Doomworld's source for this information and could not verify that it was obtained by them in good faith - forum threads there and on the archive.org copy of Doom Wad Station do not contain the name anywhere. Person in question also contacted me personally from an email with the same name and was sincere about having the information removed. Revision suppression was applied to the following pages:

Dark Exodus - Contained real name and information about subsequent page moves.
User talk:DarkExodus - Name was inadvertently added to revision log on initial request.
Talk:Doomguy 2000 - Historical thread about deletion of the article. Some intervening unrelated revisions became collateral damage due to containing the name as well.

TimeOfDeath

Community member removed their own real name from most articles on the wiki; we interpreted this as a request and moved the articles and categories affected to remove the real name. --Quasar (talk) 20:21, 12 February 2018 (CST)

rdwpa / rd

Community member requested that no person page ever be created for them. I have protected it from creation. --Quasar (talk) 01:02, 19 August 2018 (CDT)

Grain of Salt

continuum.mid

Person recently removed their real name from other sites and also changed the nickname because "it was complete nonsense and its incorporation of my legal name was getting increasingly uncomfortable" (link). So I find it necessary to not wait for a formal request and remove the person's real name from the articles and not add it later. --Nockson (talk) 14:40, 5 August 2023 (CDT)
