: I waited a week, but still nothing's jumping out at me, unfortunately. I could support Doom novels or EDGE on grounds of thoroughness and having a small but fanatical fan base. :> When the wiki was new, a few users worked hard to create coherent summaries of each book and cross-reference to every applicable game element.

: IIRC ScoreDoom also had a following, years ago, but the article still seems thin on the mechanical aspect — ideally we'd describe how tactics change when scoring is emphasized.

: I'd suggest delaying The King Doom Experience because we already featured a vintage lobby recently, but it jogs a memory for me, of spending considerable time (or at least considerable googling) on that set of articles. Why did I do so? Was the software famous? Was it innovative? Was I simply trying to collect all known information before archive.org misplaced it? I wish I could remember. HTH / KUTGW folks. Ryan W (living fossil) 19:38, 28 May 2020 (CDT)

: May be new here, but I think the Doom novels deserve the next spot. They are not that great for a novel reader, but they provide some sweet joy for doomers and are quite iconic. Also, the covers are just great.

For July, no immediately obvious anniversaries come to mind, although I did encounter Action Doom which came out 16 years ago. But after featuring a number of articles about old(er) material, we can also cover to some relatively recent things, such as one-sixth-scale Doom marine or Toys Doom Slayer action figure. Thoughts? As always, alternate proposals should pertain to articles that are stable and sufficiently fleshed out, and include an image suitable for the featured box. --Xymph (talk) 05:09, 15 June 2020 (CDT)

: A good point about older vs newer; I wonder if there are other such trends.

: I can endorse the ThreeA figure for its narrative hook (not meeting expectations). Second choice would be Action Doom, which is indeed more fleshed out than many mod overviews, but ideally should have much more technical exposition — readers might well arrive expecting us to confirm or deny all the hype about innovation. :> HTH. Ryan W (living fossil) 14:48, 21 June 2020 (CDT)

To clarify the above: I'm vaguely interested in the distribution, not concerned. The pool of candidates will always reflect the aggregate of topics people have been motivated to improve over time, like the rest of our content does. This is necessarily the case given we don't push users into any overall plan for populating content (otherwise we are back to those arguments). Finally, a nomination is not an improvement drive; aren't we all busy already? :> I regret a couple of occasions where I may have implied this and people scrambled to edit more. If something isn't ready yet, it isn't ready yet, and a few items have even stayed on Entryway multiple months because no one could immediately narrow down a new nomination.

These articles have already been selected as featured articles. It is desirable that a new nominee is not one of these.

Previously featured articles

To clarify my remark under 2020-07: I'm vaguely interested in the distribution, not concerned. The pool of candidates will always reflect the aggregate of topics people have been motivated to improve over time, like the rest of our content does. This is necessarily the case given we don't push users into any overall plan for populating content (otherwise we are back to those "why aren't all the commercial releases finished" arguments).

Anyway.

2020-06

Next month is the 25th anniversary of the first of the Doom novels, making that article a strong candidate to be featured.
A suitable alternative would be EDGE, celebrating its 20th anniversary. --Xymph (talk) 08:48, 15 May 2020 (CDT)

A few additional suggestions, mostly ports though: Deathless, ATTE (series), WolfDoom, Action Doom 2 and ScoreDoom and The King Doom Experience ---- Redneckerz (talk) 15:59, 15 May 2020 (CDT)
I waited a week, but still nothing's jumping out at me, unfortunately. I could support Doom novels or EDGE on grounds of thoroughness and having a small but fanatical fan base. :> When the wiki was new, a few users worked hard to create coherent summaries of each book and cross-reference to every applicable game element.
IIRC ScoreDoom also had a following, years ago, but the article still seems thin on the mechanical aspect — ideally we'd describe how tactics change when scoring is emphasized.
I'd suggest delaying The King Doom Experience because we already featured a vintage lobby recently, but it jogs a memory for me, of spending considerable time (or at least considerable googling) on that set of articles. Why did I do so? Was the software famous? Was it innovative? Was I simply trying to collect all known information before archive.org misplaced it? I wish I could remember. HTH / KUTGW folks. Ryan W (living fossil) 19:38, 28 May 2020 (CDT)
I'll second the Doom novels. --Quasar (talk) 00:28, 29 May 2020 (CDT)
I'll thrice the suggestion of the Doom novels. Seems an obvious choice for next month. --Redneckerz (talk) 09:17, 29 May 2020 (CDT)
May be new here, but I think the Doom novels deserve the next spot. They are not that great for a novel reader, but they provide some sweet joy for doomers and are quite iconic. Also, the covers are just great.
Thanks for the retroactive approval, I suppose; the article went up two weeks ago. ;-) --Xymph (talk) 04:34, 15 June 2020 (CDT)

2020-07

For July, no immediately obvious anniversaries come to mind, although I did encounter Action Doom which came out 16 years ago. But after featuring a number of articles about old(er) material, we can also cover to some relatively recent things, such as ThreeA one-sixth-scale Doom marine or McFarlane Toys Doom Slayer action figure. Thoughts? As always, alternate proposals should pertain to articles that are stable and sufficiently fleshed out, and include an image suitable for the featured box. --Xymph (talk) 05:09, 15 June 2020 (CDT)

A good point about older vs newer; I wonder if there are other such trends.
I can endorse the ThreeA figure for its narrative hook (not meeting expectations).
