These articles have already been selected as featured articles. It is desirable that a new nominee is not one of these.

2021-01

In my monthly check for anniversaries I only found one suitable entry, the 25th of Duke Nukem 3D's release at the end of next month. So in a (possibly) bold move, how about featuring the Duke on the Doom wiki frontpage?
Btw, I flunked on Hexen's 25th anniversary on October 30 :-\ , so that may come back in some other, unrelated month. --Xymph (talk) 05:27, 7 December 2020 (CST)

I feel I should recuse, per my history of arguing that Build-engine and Quake-engine titles shouldn't have articles.  FWIW, the most direct influence on Doom seems to be missing: reuse of Build code in ZDoom.  (Remarks like this don't illuminate anything for me, probably because I'm not a developer, so I'm hoping someone will explicate in the article eventually.)  KUTGW all.  Ryan W (living fossil) 05:58, 12 December 2020 (CST)
Well, I don't really know what to make of that. Should something else be featured then, and, if so, what? Catch up on Hexen as yet?
Quasar mentioned on IRC to have another idea, but is postponing his nomination to the very last day, too. ;) --Xymph (talk) 04:21, 31 December 2020 (CST)
Changed my mind; I think it's a fun and unusual feature. --Quasar (talk) 01:42, 2 January 2021 (CST)

2021-02

My monthly scan for anniversaries turned up the 10th anniversary of severing our old chains. Hooray. But better let bygones be bygones? It is also 28 years since Doom alphas v0.2 and v0.3 were created, so it might be fun to put them up as a joint feature? --Xymph (talk) 02:59, 17 January 2021 (CST)

Agreed with the latter as a joint feature. Perhaps an intro lead to the Unofficial Doom Specs might also fit right? --Redneckerz (talk) 16:42, 18 January 2021 (CST)
Not sure I'm following... why would the UDS (from 1994) fit together with the 1993 alphas? Besides, there only such much room in the Featured corner, a third item would be too much I'd think. --Xymph (talk) 02:30, 19 January 2021 (CST)

2021-03

Anniversary-wise, there is the 27th of Origwad & CROSS.WAD, but we just did a double-bill. There are also the 25th of Kick Attack! and of Icarus: Alien Vanguard. But a nomination of something completely different would also be fine. --Xymph (talk) 13:28, 21 February 2021 (CST)

My vote goes to Icarus, an excellent mod and a historic landmark for TeamTNT and the community, definitely worthy of being featured. --Dynamo128 (talk) 18:03, 21 February 2021 (CST)
I say Icarus, but I also suggest Mock 2: The Speed of Stupid. It's the 12th most played PWAD, features a lot of big names (for 2003), has 41 levels, and includes a custom soundtrack. ~Maggie
"12th most played" in what list? But sure, Mock 2 can be featured, but then it would make more sense to do that in November for its 18th release anniversary. --Xymph (talk) 02:51, 22 February 2021 (CST)
FWIW, I'd support Icarus or CROSS: retrospectively both seem overshadowed by contemporaries for mainly historical reasons, and deserve more recognition.  TeamTNT's aesthetic hasn't aged gloriously  :>  but back then, no shortage of players declared Icarus everything Evilution should have been.  For CROSS, I notice the paraphrased material has barely changed from my draft, making any technical/rendering explanations suspect.  KUTGW everyone.  Ryan W (living fossil) 20:08, 28 February 2021 (CST)
