2022-01

Another year almost in the bag? Time flies... For next month, possible anniversaries to feature could be Amulets & Armor (25th) and Eternity Engine (21st). The latter would be timely, in view of Heartland and Testing Pool featuring at the Cacowards. Or from an entirely different wiki corner, one of the new movie-related articles on monsters or weapons? --Xymph (talk) 13:20, 26 December 2021 (CST)

I'm going to second Eternity for the reasons Xymph has given, and because it's more Doom-related than Amulets & Armor. Gauss (talk) 13:41, 26 December 2021 (CST)
I cannot vote for EE because I'm biased but I definitely do not see A&A as a valid featured article; it was nearly deleted for its marginal topicality once it was discovered it's not a Doom engine game; it was retained due to the historical interest this mixup caused alone, and because it is an example of what was a greater phenomenon of devs using Doom file formats and tools to make their own lives easier. --Quasar (talk) 14:54, 26 December 2021 (CST)

2022-02

Next month, it's 25 years since the release of Mordeth's first episode, and so far the only one hence it got an award named after it. A suitable feature, then? --Xymph (talk) 06:44, 24 January 2022 (CST)

I'd say so for those reasons. Gauss (talk) 10:06, 24 January 2022 (CST)
Sounds good to me. --Dynamo128 (talk) 10:09, 24 January 2022 (CST)

2022-03

Since nobody else remembered (cared?) to post a nomination, I guess I'll hunt anniversaries again. It's the 28th for Origwad and E2M1ED, the 27th for SQUARES, and the 26th for Kick Attack! -- but we just featured a mod this month. Also, the 27th for Heretic: The Official Strategy Guide and the 25th for Doom for Sega Saturn. Any preferences? Alternatively, earlier suggestions were Approximate distance or Korax. --Xymph (talk) 03:34, 28 February 2022 (CST)

I vote for the Doom for Sega Saturn article. Not only is 25 a nice number, but it's also a very notorious port that got quite the infamous reputation. - Endless01 (talk) 06:04, 28 February 2022 (CST)
I also vote for Sega Saturn due to the reasons Endless01 has given. Gauss (talk) 06:47, 28 February 2022 (CST)

2022-04

In a rerun from a year ago, anniversaries next month include 3DO's 26th and Hexen (Sega Saturn)'s 25th -- but we just did a port anniversary. There is 2015 Doom source data release's 7th and the 26th for 99 Ways to Die, but neither look that appealing to me at this time. Which brings me back to earlier "general" suggestions like Approximate distance and D'Sparil/Korax. Any other/better nominations? --Xymph (talk) 05:33, 18 March 2022 (CDT)

The 2015 Doom source data release sounds like a good candidate, considering that last year Romero was told to not release any more unseen/alpha/beta resources of Doom, the 2015 source is probably the last one will ever get, so I guess that makes it a bit special. - Endless01 (talk) 06:10, 18 March 2022 (CDT)

2022-05

Next month are the 25th anniversaries of the releases of Hexen (Sony PlayStation) and Doom Music (album), but those are five-upped by Wolfenstein 3D's anniversary. So we'll go with that unless there is real opposition? --Xymph (talk) 15:41, 27 April 2022 (CDT)

2022-06

Anniversary round-up for June: Quake (26th), Hexen (Nintendo 64) (25th), The Talosian Incident (25th), Dawn of the Dead (25th), and Zandronum (15th). STRAIN also came out in 1997, in June according to the timeline, but the initial strain10.zip is dated Sep 15 with the segment files inside dated July 3, so I'm not sure which month to use. The timeline probably mixed up the 1997 initial release with the June 24, 2015 re-release. Anyway, preferences, anyone? As always, a non-anniversary feature can also be nominated. --Xymph (talk) 05:01, 24 May 2022 (CDT)

Given we just had Wolfenstein 3D as featured, I'd say it's better to have a mod this time, and Talosian Incident would be a good pick in my opinion. --Dynamo128 (talk) 06:11, 24 May 2022 (CDT)

2022-07

I thought to get ahead and look for some anniversaries for July. I'd like to nominate the The /newstuff Chronicles article for the next feature. I think it is a noteworthy community event that lasted for 18 years and showcased some of the best and worst of the community in a neatly way. It's a cool part of our history. As for other anniversaries, there's Memento Mori II, All Hell is Breaking Loose and Doom 64 TC. - Endless01 (talk) 07:54, 13 June 2022 (CDT)

Newstuff works for me, and is a good diversion from port & mod anniversaries. --Xymph (talk) 07:42, 13 June 2022 (CDT)
I also vote for /newstuff. Gauss (talk) 08:20, 13 June 2022 (CDT)
I would like the number of redlinks on that page to be reduced before it is considered eligible for feature status. --Quasar (talk) 00:10, 27 June 2022 (CDT)
