Editing Doom Wiki talk:ProblemReports/33456

There are at least three possible solutions:
* Edit LocalSettings.php to disable subpages in the main space. [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgNamespacesWithSubpages]
* Edit Common.css to hide the backlink. [http://help.wikia.com/index.php?title=Help:Subpages&oldid=15592#Can_I_hide_the_backlinks_to_parent_pages.3F]
* Use the "wrongtitle" workaround (e.g. [[ZDoom (IRC channel)|#zdoom]]).
I personally would have no problem with the first method, although it requires finding Fredrik and asking him to do it.&nbsp; The second one can be done by any admin (in theory; these control files can be slippery to work with), but I don't think it should occur, because it would impede navigation outside the main space.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; [[User:Ryan W|Ryan W]] 22:50, May 19, 2010 (UTC)

I kinda have the feeling that the "fix" applied was not exactly what was actually wanted... Thinking about it some more, maybe it could be possible to use the solidus (⁄) instead of the slash? Depends on whether DISPLAYTITLE would accept to replace it with a slash, like it accepts to replace letter casing or force the use of underscores... : I thank Charitwo for giving me a good laugh in the middle of a big pile of paperwork, but IMO the current situation is better than that "solution".&nbsp; DOS extenders are a very esoteric part of the original game (in the sense that they need not be replicated for porting), so redirecting DOS to DOS/4GW is less appropriate than redirecting it to a list of game titles.&nbsp; Actually, an article called "DOS" could be written giving an overview of DOS-specific technical info: networking technologies, memory management, what was state of the art in graphics/sound.&nbsp; Ideally, however, DOS/4GW would not be a subpage even in that case, because "4GW" by itself isn't the file name and we don't structure the main space that way in general.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; [[User:Ryan W|Ryan W]] 20:32, May 26, 2010 (UTC)

::Removing the ability to use subpages on the main namespace would cause more problems than solving the one. Perhaps a mixture of altering spacing and using the "wrongtitle" method.
