The DOOM Modem Contact List, also known as the DMCL, was a short-lived but successful community contact list maintained by Jeff Forsyth for facilitating multiplayer sessions. While the list was aimed mostly at CompuServe players, other players could join as well. It was mentioned in the Official Doom FAQ as a method to find avid players across the globe.
"The purpose of this list is to act as a directory of DOOM Modem players to help DOOMers connect with each other. If you are seeking a fellow player, simply locate someone near you on this list and send them E-Mail."
― Official Doom FAQ [source]
The last revision, R7, was created on April 8, 1994, with the list containing over 100 members. It is unlikely that any contacts on the list are still valid.
TriviaEdit
- A few members used their company email addresses, including players from the National Institutes of Health, Liggett & Myers, and Delphi Automotive - a clear indication of Doom's popularity in the workplace.
