Doomroom (IRC channel)

The title given to this article is incorrect due to technical limitations. The correct title is #doomroom.

#doomroom was a formerly highly active Doom community IRC channel. Topics of discussion were unrestricted and uncensored in most cases. It was initially created on the EFnet IRC network by Zokum after a schism in the moderation of its predecessor #doom channel on the same network. It notably changed networks multiple times, to Undernet and finally to Freenode, leaving behind a few members during each move. A subsequent moderation dispute between Andy Kempling (aurikan) and James Haley (Quasar) resulted in a portion of that channel's community moving over to the already existent #zdoom channel, then run by Kurt Kesler.

#doomroom activity eventually faded as #zdoom became the prominent location for community discussions. It was briefly hosted privately on the despayre.org server owned by Alex Mao (arioch).
