Dynamic light

A dynamic light is a localized source of illumination, typically a point light, which can be bound to an object (such as a candelabra or a fireball) or be placed as an invisible map thing. Contrarily to Doom's ambient lighting model, where each sector has a given light level throughout and realistic light falloff and shadows have to be baked in the map geometry by the map designer, dynamic lights are not tied to sector boundaries. Usually, dynamic lights are only supported in hardware renderers, though implementation in software is possible.
