Other points of interest[edit]

Secrets[edit]

  1. East of a shotgun (not the one behind you at the starting area), press the wall. Behind it, you will find a computer map, and a switch required for secret #2. (sector 100)
  2. Pressing the switch in secret #1 will raise a tiny step that will allow you to use the very narrow catwalk and reach a soulsphere west of secret #1. (sector 22)
  3. At the northeastern part of the map, pressing a part of the eastern wall will reveal a passage that will lead you to a rocket launcher. (sector 192) Make sure to lower it first with a switch near the red key.
  4. Entering the booby-trapped room south of the switch that lowers the rocket launcher from secret #3 will open a wall south of the blue door. Following the passage, you will notice an entrance to your left (east). Behind it is a slime pool with invulnerability, a stimpack, and a radsuit. (sector 250)
  5. Across the entrance to secret #4 is a candle next to a wall. Pressing that wall will reveal a corridor. Following it will lead you to two boxes of rockets, a medikit, and eventually a mega armor near another blue door. (sector 303)
  6. Just behind the red door, press on the northern wall right next to it and press the switch. It will give you access to the backpack near the fake exit. (sector 125)
  7. Entering the outdoor area where the blue key is will lower access to the armor near the red door. (sector 201)
  8. Before crossing the pool of nukage near the fake exit, press the switch hidden in a tech panel, next to a candle. It will open a wall near the fake exit. Look for another candle on the floor. Behind it, you will find two boxes of rockets and two energy packs after getting lowered. (sector 279)

Technical information[edit]

Inspiration and development[edit]

  • Originally released as a standalone WAD titled Doom Classic 10: Mercurius Pools in July 2003.
  • Another version of the level was also released in July 2003, two days later after the first WAD. It excludes the cyberdemon after some players complained about its placement.
  • The modified version in The Classic Episode, Part 2 adjusts a light level.
