EssentialsEdit

This level consists of three structurally similar rooms. Take the backpack and armor bonuses in front of you then look at the two silver blocks either side of the steps - go round to the north side of the east block to find a button that will lower the gray crate by the west wall, releasing a number of demons. Go into the small chamber that the demons came from and flip the switch on the east wall, then return to the main room and go up the steps to confront some imps in front of a fire wall. Step into the fire to reach the second room.

In the second room, watch out for demons, imps and lost souls teleporting in as soon as you fire a weapon. Take the chainsaw from the blood pool in front of you, but ignore the invulnerability by the east wall for now as you may want it later. Go up the steps - a closet containing two or three cacodemons will open on your left - then turn right to enter a passage containing health bonuses, which you should follow until you climb some steps up to a partial invisibility. Press the skull switch on your left to enter the cacodemons' closet then drop back into the main room - the two marble blocks either side of the steps will lower to reveal barons of Hell. Go to the south-west corner of the room to find an alcove containing another skull switch, which will open the door at the top of the steps to reveal a cyberdemon. Kill the cyberdemon and enter the fire wall in its chamber to reach the third room.

As you step off the teleporter pad in the third room, a spiderdemon guarding a yellow skull key will rise from the pit in front of you. There are several items in the room you can use to help you kill the spider, including a berserk pack by the west wall, a megaarmor in an alcove in the north-east corner and (on I'm Too Young to Die and Hey Not Too Rough) an invulnerability by the east wall. There are also four supercharges hidden in the alcoves on the east and west sides of the room and in the skin blocks either sides of the steps - behind each supercharge is an eye switch that you need to press to open the exit. After pressing all four switches, killing the spiderdemon and taking the yellow key, climb the steps and open the pentagram wall ahead to find a BFG9000, two energy cell packs and a flesh wall that you can step into to finish the level.

Other points of interestEdit

In the first room, press the button hidden on the west block to open a chamber on the east side of the room, which contains zombiemen and/or shotgun guys guarding a chaingun.

SecretsEdit

  1. In the first room, go to the terminals at the east side and use the north one. This lowers the two blocks in the room which hold a backpack and an armor, which count as separate secrets. (sector 1)
  2. See secret #1. (sector 2)
  3. In the second room, go to the steps in front of you and look at the left side at the corner. A small brick juts out here. Press use while facing north where this brick is, which will lower a wall at the south-west corner, revealing a teleporter. This teleports you to a rocket launcher. (sector 46)
