E3M6: In The Deal is the sixth map of Army of Darkness TC. It appears as MAP06 in the PWAD's Doom II conversion. It was designed by Stefan Maes and uses music by Rick Sparks (Suture).

The design is a modification of standalone level Excalibur released separately by Stefan in 1994. v1.1 was uploaded to the idgames archive on April 11, 1995 to make Army of Darkness TC's entry the third revision of this level.

Secrets

  1. From the start, head south and turn left at the T-junction. At the end is a wall with a skull decoration - shooting it opens it to reveal an exploding barrel, a Winchester, a box of shotgun shells, a stimpack, and a medikit. (sector 368)
  2. At the start are four small nukage pits. The south-west one is escapable to the west (the wall is marked differently), and it leads to several items including an armor, a megaarmor (in a secret room to the west of the curved staircase), a computer area map, and a crossbow. (sector 433)
  3. Head up the curved staircase near the blue key and walk along the ledge to the west and south. At the end, press the wall to the east (it is also possible to press this wall from below). Now head to the south-west corner of the corridor surrounding the main area - the north-east corner is a secret door leading to two floating torsos, four ghosts (hard skill only), a catapult and some gunpowder. (sector 532)

Bugs

100% kills is not possible on this map as there is a floating torso (thing 485) that is too large to reach the teleporter and so cannot warp in to the main area.

Inspiration and development

"This is the 3rd revision of my very first WAD I built, and which got me involved in this project. Previously released as Excalibur, AND elected as an All-Time Best DOOM Level on DoomGate, this version finally looks like I really wanted it to. The use of DOOM2 textures made quite a difference."
