The teleporter will send you to a building at the north end of the map - head south to a wooden door and open it to enter a large cave, but stay on the move as a cyberdemon is waiting outside. Go to the red tower at the east end of the cave and use the lift inside it to go to the upper floor, then press the skull switch in the north-east corner followed by a second switch at the south end. Pressing the second switch opens the metal door in front of the blue skull key so you can collect it.

Go through the doorway behind the blue key to drop down to the ground, then go to the staircase at the south end of the cave and climb it - you will see a door close at the top, which can be reopened using the blue key, but watch out for barons of Hell teleporting on either side of it. Follow the hallway past some imps to a second blue door and open it, then continue west across a flesh bridge - demons will teleport at either end as you cross it. On the other side of the bridge, use the skull lift to the north to go up to a green room, then look west to see some zombies guarding a small door. Go through the door to collect a plasma gun, then press the eye switch in the southern alcove to reveal a teleporter. E3M9: Weeping Hollow is the ninth and secret map of the Inferno episode in Doom the Way id Did: The Lost Episodes. It was designed by Gus Knezevich (Alfonzo), Jeff Shark (Marnetmar), and Xaser, and uses the music track "The End of DOOM" by Robert Prince.

Map of Weeping Hollow
Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Essentials[edit]

To complete this level you need the red key, and either the blue or yellow keys. It is not necessary to collect all three.

Open the door in front of you and kill two imps ahead, then go round the corner to collect an armor before stepping into a damaging blood pool. Run east to a door and go through it, then south-east to a platform with a rocket launcher; the surrounding walls will lower to reveal a number of imps and cacodemons, so kill them using your new weapon then go north-east up some steps to a teleporter.

Enter the teleporter, then follow the passage in front of you to a room where a few zombies are guarding the red skull key; some imps will teleport behind you when you approach the key.

Retrace your steps to the top of the staircase leading out of the northern cave, then open the south-east door and climb the steps behind it before walking east to the red door. Open the door and look north-east to see a baron and imps guarding a BFG9000 and a megaarmor (or armor on Hurt Me Plenty skill level or higher), then enter the fiery alcove at the south end of the room and press the skull switch here to go down to a chamber with several imps and one or more barons - they will be joined by cacodemons that fly in from the area above. Climb up either staircase at the south end of the room to reach the exit door, then open it to find two imps protecting the exit switch.

Other points of interest[edit]

In the building at the north end of the map is an alcove with a supercharge. The alcove closes as you approach it, but you can open it again using the blue key.

Secrets[edit]

 1. In the south-east area past the rocket launcher, go to the east ledge and walk through it. Follow the armor bonuses to reach a box of shotgun shells and stimpacks. (sector 247)
 2. At the northern cave, head down the steps and go around the red rock on the left side. Enter the cave in here to get a light amplification visor and an energy cell pack. (sector 306)
 3. Enter the red tower in the northern cave. At the top, head to the north-east and press both switches, then to the south-west and use the switch there. You can access the blue key, but also you can access the plasma gun to the south. (sector 287)
 4. Open the yellow door and head west to two doors. Take the south door, then try to jump through the fire wall nearby. A supercharge is behind this fire wall. (sector 313)
 5. In the red key area, go to the south-west hall and go through the south-west wall. Drop down to find a box of rockets to the east and partial invisibility past the wall that lowers to the west. (sector 44)
 6. Open the recessed wall to the east of the red key to find health bonuses, an energy cell pack, rockets and a megaarmor. (sector 319)
 7. At the west area of the map with green torches, head north from the torches, then west to the wall. Use it to lower it, then enter the dark room behind the wall to find armor bonuses, clips and a backpack. (sector 37)
 8. In the red key room, shoot the silver bars past the red key, then go to the area where secret #7 is and head north. Open the skull door and head east, then north to find stimpacks and a computer area map. (sector 208)
