E4M3: Despair is the third map of episode Thy Flesh Consumed in Doom the Way id Did: The Lost Episodes. It was designed by Captain Toenail.

Walkthrough

Map of Despair

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Secrets

1. Head behind the switch north of the big lava pit to find a radiation suit. (sector 166)
2. Head east of the switch and enter the room to the north. Use the skull switch on the west wall and take the lift down after you press it. Head around quickly to reach a berserk pack. (sector 203)
3. Head behind the switch south of the big lava pit to find a backpack. (sector 167)
4. Open the red door at the south end and head all the way east to a teleporter. Enter it to reach a thin walkway that leads to a megaarmor. (sector 163)
5. Enter either of the teleporters at Secret #4, then head east from the teleporter you land on to find a secret room with a box of ammo and an ammo clip. (sector 153)
6. Lower the first barricade leading to the west end of the map (via the north switch mentioned in Secret #1) and enter the lava to the north. Head east and enter the teleporter there, then use the fire wall in front of you. Follow the ledge to reach an area with the Quake symbol and a plasma gun behind the wall. (sector 170)
7. Get the blue key south of the exit, then head all the way to the east end of the map to the blue door. The room here contains a BFG9000 and a computer area map. (sector 211)
