'''The Talosian Incident''' is a 20-level megawad for Doom II, created by The Black Star Coven, a team led by John Bye (Gestalt666). Released on June 19, 1997, it stood out against other WADs of the era for its strong emphasis on creating moody atmospheres, helped by a predominantly ambient soundtrack in the vein of Doom 64. It was named by Doomworld as one of the ten best mods of 1997.

'''The /newstuff Chronicles''' was a periodic roundup of recent uploads to the /idgames archive that are reviewed by users from the Doomworld forums. When a sufficient number of quality reviews had been approved, they were compiled in a new issue published on a Doomworld thread. Community users can post comments on a /newstuff Chronicles issue within the forums.

Trivia

Did you know that splash damage in the original Doom games is computed only from the horizontal distance between the explosion and the affected thing, which can be used to harm targets far above or below the blast?
