I assume there's a technical reason why we can't get pictures of these alpha maps that are more similar to our usual SLADE- or omgifol-generated map images? I ask because I have long term plans to create articles about the maps' alpha versions which would have comparative pictures of each version to track its development, and, if the alpha versions look radically different from the final versions, that's going to be a bit distracting to say the least. --Quasar (talk) 13:37, 21 May 2015 (CDT)

Can alpha maps even be viewed in SLADE? I was viewing them in Yadex for unrelated reasons (Yadex being the one editor I knew could read them) and I figured that Yadex map screenshots were better than no shots at all. --Linguica (talk) 15:59, 21 May 2015 (CDT)

It seems not, presently, so these will have to be "special," and yes they're definitely better than none at all. I was just curious about the technical capabilities at present given my upcoming project. Thanks for the uploads. --Quasar (talk) 16:26, 21 May 2015 (CDT)
I haven't bothered looking too much into the alpha map format and I suppose rather than trying to support them directly I'd script a console command to generate normal Doom format maps from them instead. (Nobody is looking to edit or create maps in these formats, right?) --Gez (talk) 16:37, 21 May 2015 (CDT)
It'd be interesting from an academic view to be able to experiment with the alphas and find their limits and quirks by throwing weird maps at them but, I don't personally have the time so, don't do it for my sake ;) --Quasar (talk) 16:41, 21 May 2015 (CDT)
