Our longstanding practice is not to rip images from other sites. Not only are our own images more likely to complement the articles, they create less legal risk (because we have proof that the image's creator wanted us to use it).

- I was able to determine that these aren't ripped shots, just taken using an emulator that named the screenshots after the ROM files, which have the URL they came from as part of the ROM file name. Deletion should not be necessary but I strongly recommend that we rename these files. --Quasar 03:28, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
- Excellent find. I'd say this weights the situation toward keeping, given how rare such images are, and given that they're being used as part of legit historical recordkeeping (like our vanilla Doom alpha articles). I agree with your statement on IRC that the file names shouldn't include URL or ROM title; I'll be glad to fix that myself assuming this closes as keep. Ryan W 16:37, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
