Gold is the currency of the world of Strife, the main form of payment accepted for goods and services. Gold may be found throughout the game, sometimes pre-placed on the levels, and frequently as an item drop when certain characters are killed. It may also be given directly to the player by characters during conversations. Macil usually rewards the player with 300 gold after every successfully completed quest.
Amounts[edit]
Gold can occur in several denominations:

Dropped gold[edit]
When the player drops inventory items deliberately, the highest denomination possible will be dropped starting with 50, then 25, and then 10. Once the player has less than 10 gold remaining, single coins will be dropped. If a player is killed during a multiplayer game, any gold possessed will be dropped as a single object which appears the same as a 25-gold coin purse, but has the entire value of that player's gold reserves. However, gold does not normally spawn in maps during deathmatch, as all the gold things which can be placed on maps are given the MF_NOTDMATCH flag which prevents spawning.
