The heavy assault rifle is a weapon found in the 2016 Doom game, replacing the machine gun from Doom 3. Its role as a high rate of fire, conventional bullet-based weapon, as well as its ammunition, is shared with the chaingun, but its versatility is exposed through a number of modifications available for it. The UAC considers the weapon to be superseded by the plasma rifle, but recognizes its familiarity, accuracy, and dependability as justification for its continued widespread use by employees.
