Infection is a seven-level PWAD for Doom II that requires an MBF and DEHEXTRA compatible source port. It was created by Dennis Meuwissen (Exl) and first released in March 2022. It was designed for consecutive play as opposed to pistol starts and makes use of DEHEXTRA to, among other things, add ambient sound effects to the game. The WAD utilizes the OTEX texture pack and centers around a vanilla-style techbase setting that towards the end combines with a visual theme of graphical corruption. Levels are comparatively short in length, with an easy to medium difficulty.
It was uploaded to the idgames archive on April 4, 2022.
Infection was recognized with an honorable mention at the Cacowards 2022.
