lilith (also known as lilith.pk3) is a 12-level mapset released by anotak in 2017 for the ZDoom source port.

The mod, almost entirely consisting of "glitchy" graphic sets (which are Doom II resources altogether) and music remixes to meet the overall atmosphere, exploits most known technical bugs of ZDoom. Therefore, this mod is incompatible with GZDoom and its derivatives (Zandronum, QZDoom etc.) due to their inability to properly display software rendering engine glitches. Although every level of the mod is independently equipped with its own script to show the "faulty" engine behavior, some of the bugs usually occur by means of other environmental events (such as a player's weapon sprite not being drawn properly).

This mod technically comprises twelve maps. However, ten of them are actually playable and the other two are mainly for checking the engine the player is using.

It was named as one of the winners of the 2017 Cacowards.

Content[edit]

All music tracks are rearrangements of the original Doom II songs in MP3 format. The first level is in MIDI format. Levels 34, 98 and 99 by their own use the original tunes in the IWAD.

1. ^  Only serves a technical purpose: any non-ZDoom engine will automatically load this map after a few seconds if the player tries to play any Lilith level. If this map is loaded with ZDoom, a message will print "Pretty sure this is ZDoom. Why'd you do this?" and the game will load MAP01.
