This article is a list of editing, fictional, non-fictional, programming, and strategy books focusing on the classic Doom series of games and closely related subjects, including later games in the Doom series such as Doom 3 and Doom (2016). Books about the classic Doom were popular in the early- to mid-nineties, at the height of Doom's popularity. Many included CD-ROMs with editing utilities, WAD files, game resources, graphical maps of the game levels, and other items of interest to players and editors. The shareware versions of the games were also a frequent pack-in.
Contents
Editing[edit]
Books on Doom editing focused primarily on teaching how to use various editing utilities, including map editors, DeHackEd, and creation of graphic and sound resources. These books virtually always include a CD with various Doom-oriented resources.

Programming[edit]
Books on programming took a technical point of view, focusing on entry-level programming and advanced topics. Such books usually only approached Wolfenstein 3D-level raycasting technology in their provided example implementations, as the binary space partitioning and screenspace clipping algorithms used by Doom were still practical trade secrets at the time. The focus on MS-DOS programming leaves these books something of a historical curiosity in the present day. These books almost always include a CD with resources, but are often aimed at the creation of a new game and may include extensive source code files.
