Bugs
 +
The following multiplayer-only things have no flags set for any of the three difficulty classes, so they do not actually appear in the level:
 +
* one case of torpedoes (thing 491)
 +
* two Hoig Reznators (482 and 483)
 +
* three photon 'zookas (476, 479 and 490)
 +
* three tazers (480, 481 and 488)
 +
* three uzis (477, 478 and 489)
 +
The same goes for the four deathmatch starts (484 through 487), but because of special handling in the engine, they function normally in the level.

MAP01: GenEmp Corp. (or GenEmp Corp on the intermission screen) is the first map of Hacx. It was designed by Mike Reed and Marc Pullen.

Walkthrough

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Essentials

At the start of the level, there is a locked door up ahead. To get the KeyCard, turn to your left and go all the way. Turn to your right and move forward until you see a door to your right. Open it, and kill the Thug blocking you from entering. Follow the stairway downwards until you see a room with the KeyCard. Take it and go back up the stairways. Now go back to the place you originally started the level, and head for the locked door ahead of you.

Open it and enter into the lobby. There are two elevators up ahead. Take the one on your left and press "up". Once it stops, exit the elevator and turn to your right. There are two door on the left side and one door on the right. Go to farthest door on the left side and enter. Inside, there is a switch next to a cabinet up ahead. Flip this switch and exit the room. Now, turn left and move forward until you meet two hallways on your left and front. Go to the gray hallway in front of you, turn right, then go all the way to the back wall. Open the door on your left and enter. Pass through all the extra doors until you are in a small chamber with a closed door on your left accompanied with a switch. Flip this switch and enter through the opened door. You will see two desks and a red door up ahead, in the room. Go to the desk on your right, there is a hidden switch on one of the sides. Press it to open the red door and enter this room. On your left lies a Password on a desk.

Take it and go back to the room with the two desks. You will see that the door you originally entered this room from, is locked. Open it with the Password. Go back through all the doors until you are back in the gray hallway. There is another lift here. Enter the lift and press "down". Once you are back in the lobby, turn left and walk until you are in the middle of the lobby. On your left lies a white structure. Go behind it from one of the sides and you will see a locked door. Open it with the Password. Inside, there is a gray desk. Go behind it and press the switch. You will see a door has opened. Enter this new room and collect the Vulcan rubber boots. Exit this room, turn left and move forward into the tunnel with the electric floor and ceiling. Go through the tunnel until you see a door of an elevator up ahead. Open it, enter the elevator and press "down". Once the elevator has stopped, go forward then left.

You are now in some chemical storage section of the level. Go to your left until you see an elevator controlled by a hand scanner. Use the hand scanner to make the elevator come down and get on it. Now, there is a control panel wall near you. On lower difficulties, you can interact with this wall to form bridges between the chemical vats, which you can use to the ledge on the other side. On higher difficulties, this wall is inaccessible, in which case, you have to rely on your jumping skills to land on each of the chemical vats to reach the ledge up ahead. If you can't press use on the wall, then turn around so that the panel is behind you and move forward then right, until you see a gap in the railing. Jump onto the chemical vat in front of you and do so with the other two up ahead until you can jump onto the ledge on the other side. If you could press the wall panel, then go the gap in the railing and step on the bridge. It will go down again, but it will rise up after a few seconds. Cautiously walk to the next bridge up ahead and get on the ledge on the other side. Now move to your left. You'll see there is small ledge on the wall beside it, connecting to the door on your left. Jump onto this small ledge and tread on it until you are next to this door. Open this door, go inside and open the second door.

Now go right then left, until there is a door on your left. Open it by shooting the switch next to it. Enter the small pathway into the room inside. Press the switch in this room. Now turn left to see that a secret door has opened. Enter it and go down the steps. Turn left and proceed through the tunnel until you see another hand scanner. Instead, go through the laser sensor on your left. The walls will now down, leaving a bridge to the locked door up ahead. Get on the bridge and jump off either side.

Now bring down the bridge by pressing the hand scanner here. Once it's down, get on it so that it rise again. Go back to the laser sensor and press the hand scanner here, and the locked door up ahead will open for a brief amount of time. Go through it and press the switch on your right to lower the elevator in front of you. Stand on the platform and wait for it to rise. Once it stops, you'll see a small opening. Run through it and jump out.

You are now in a underground train station. Go to your left until you see a door on your left side. Open it, enter and open the next door after that. Now on you right is a train. Go inside the train. Turn left and go open the door to enter the next train compartment. Once inside, there will be one more door up ahead. Open this door and press use on the switch in front of you to exit the level.

The same goes for the four deathmatch starts (484 through 487), but because of special handling in the engine, they function normally in the level.
