MAP03: Crouching Demon, Hidden Archvile is the third map of Deus Vult II. It was designed by Huy Pham (Doom Marine) and uses the music track " ". The par time defined in MAPINFO is 2:00.

Alternate Exit: At the base of the mountain where the water is, go to the southern end and you should spot a fire. Head to this fire, and your health will slowly drain as the area around the fire is a Type 11 damaging sector. Once it gets below 11 the level will end.

Secrets

  1. Step on the yin-yang symbol at the exit building, then head back to the first building. An opening here has chaingunners and an energy cell pack. (sector 64)
  2. At the exit portal, move around to the backside of the portal and use it. You will wind up south of the mountain where you can collect a soul sphere and lots of ammo. (sector 276)
  3. On the east side of the mountaintop you can spot an armor. To reach it, go north and find a clearing on the outer edge past the trees and you should reach it. (sector 419)
  4. In the water at the base of the mountain, go north towards the teleporter which takes you back up. Take this teleporter from the north side (an arrow points to the north side of the teleporter, it is barely visible but is slightly darker than the ground around it). The room you wind up in counts as a secret and you can get four rockets here. (sector 505)
  5. Northeast of the yin-yang symbol where the exit is, use the wooden beam to lower it, which counts as a secret. (sector 585)
  6. At the chessboard where you get the blue key, go past the teleporter that leads you back to the mountain and through the bushes to another teleporter. This takes you to a special chessboard room with numerous monsters as well as some supplies. Press the southern part of the switch to exit this room. (sector 793)

Trivia

In PrBoom+ automap, this level is called "Ichi, Ni, San, Shi". This refers to the signs that read "一二山四", which translates to "1, 2, mountain, 4," and reads them using their on'yomi (ichinisanshi). The "mountain" character 山 has the same on'yomi, san, as 三, or "three". The substitution is likely a pun based on the level taking place on Mt. Fuji.
