MAP04: Command Control is the fourth level of console versions of Doom, based on the original E1M4: Command Control with modifications made to adapt to consoles' limitations. It was converted by American McGee and originally designed by Tom Hall and John Romero. The map first appeared in Atari Jaguar version, and is additionally used in the 3DO, Sega 32X, Game Boy Advance, Sony PlayStation, and Sega Saturn versions.

Bugs
In the PlayStation release, the sound data for lost souls spat from pain elementals is never loaded into memory on this map resulting in silent attacks of the lost souls (the death and the pain sounds are still preserved, with the former being identical to any projectile hit and the latter being pain state sound of the pain elemental).
Two shell pickups (Things 12 and 37) have no flags set for any of the three difficulty classes, so they do not actually appear in the level.
Comparison of versions
Numerous changes exist in the level as compared to its PC version:
Geometry simplification
- The lit square in the blue key room was replaced with a switch.
- The design of the lowering platform in the "swastika room" has been simplified.
- The maze behind the blue door:
- a south portion which had a barrel, a medikit and an imp on HMP and Ultra-Violence skills was sealed by a brick wall.
- a dead end with two health bonuses to the right of end of the maze was erased along with the potions.
- two barrels (one in the south and the second in the next-to-last dead end) were removed leaving only one.
New design
Some rooms in the level were redesigned:
- Room to the west of nukage river was slightly redesigned: the switch for activating the lift is on the west wall, instead of being on the north wall segment, and has been added a medikit and three rockets.
- Central room with four entrances into the blue key room is open to the sky.
- The blue key room is opened by using a switch, instead of walking into a lit square (which was deleted; see above).
- There is a new corridor at the extreme west of the maze behind the blue door, joining what used to be dead ends.
- The computer room in the east of the map has been removed and replaced by a 4-way junction.
Other
- Four technical lamp decorations in the second from start room were deleted.
- Two lifts, one giving access to the soulsphere secret and the second to the megaarmor ledge, can be used multiple times allowing the player to revisit the areas.
PlayStation
Some additional changes were made in the PlayStation port:
