MAP05: Aggrovator is the fifth map of Valiant. It was designed by Paul DeBruyne (skillsaw) and uses the music track "Core," originally composed by Stuart Rynn (stewboy) for Speed of Doom. The par time is 4:00.

WalkthroughEdit

EssentialsEdit

Head round the corner and kill the super imps on either side by blowing up the barrels, then walk forward to a shotgun and go outside; step back after walking on the grass, as there are mancubi, zombies and imps around and above you that can hit you when you are not looking. Once the general vicinity is clear, go to the north side of the map to find a building containing two super demons and two arachnorbs who are guarding the red keycard. Arm yourself before approaching the key as it will trap you in an enclosed area with three super demons (or six on Hurt Me Plenty (HMP) skill level; once they are dead, look behind the east column to find a switch (guarded by a revenant on Ultra-Violence or Nightmare) that will lower the south barrier and allow you to escape.

Go back outside and dispose of any imps, revenants and zombies that have teleported, then enter the gray brick building near the center of the map and head to the window to find a tan lever that will raise two lifts, letting you reach the buildings containing the yellow and blue keycards. Go back outside and press the east lift to lower it, then enter the north building and time your run past a crusher to find the yellow key being guarded by a revenant; taking the key will open a closet containing a second revenant, or an arch-vile on HMP or higher. Leave the building and fight off some imps and cacodemons that have teleported in, then step across the lifts to the west building where you must get past another arch-vile and some shotgun guys to reach the blue key.

Drop to the ground and head towards the east side of the map, passing some arachnorbs on the way, to enter a storage room. Kill the enemies hiding behind the crates and take the rocket launcher placed in the middle of the room if you need it, then open all three locked doors and step on the red X behind them to finish the level.

A super shotgun and a super chaingun can be found inside the western-most structure.

SecretsEdit

  1. At the storage area near the exit, a target switch is tucked behind the tan crate on the west wall. Shoot it to lower the neighboring gray crate, then use the lift behind it to reach a plasma gun. (sector 198)
  2. Look south from the blue key building to spot a target switch. Shoot it and go east to get an energy cell pack. (sector 383)
