MAP06: Lignichor is the sixth map of The Box of a Thousand Demons. It was designed by Thelokk and uses the music track "Main Theme" from Shadow of the Beast.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

As you warp in you will be immediately rushed by demons, while having to dodge imp and mancubus fireballs. The small arena features four platforms: find the somewhat hidden switch on the southern side of the western one, as hitting it will raise the eastern platform - which is actually a lift - just enough to reach the only way out of the room.

Turn left at the crossroad and you will reach a very large, big room, where you will be immediately targeted by demons, perched Hell nobles, and a roaming cyberdemon: be mindful, as hidden teleport lines will make the movement pattern of this enemy rather erratic. At the southwest end of the arena is a switch, which will raise a set of stairs against the northern wall: climb it so you can reach a narrow passageway leading to a long, rectangular room with a dais with a switch at its top. Hitting this switch will lock you in and lower walls at the western and eastern end of the room, revealing an ambush of Hell knights, revenants and a single arch-vile. There are two additional switches, one for each alcove the monsters were tucked away in: the western one will allow you to leave the room, the eastern one is mandatory progression.

Retrace your steps to the big room and find that the eastern switch has lowered a wall at the arena's southeastern end, releasing a cloud of cacodemons, imps, and a pain elemental on Ultra-Violence. Either dispatch or circumvent the crowd, as the exit switch is located right behind the wall of enemies, at the very southeastern tip.

Secrets[edit]

  1. In the E-shaped hall, head to the south end and look north to see a switch. Shoot it and head back to the starting point to find rockets and a rocket launcher at the west side. (sector 82)
  2. In the big room, head to the southeast side of the central tree and lower the wall. Head into the tree to get an invulnerability. (sector 143)
  3. On the west side of the big room, head to the alcove to the south without a torch and go through it to get a box of rockets. (sector 236)
