MAP08: Realm is the eighth map of The Plutonia Experiment. It was designed by Milo Casali and uses the music track "The Demons From Adrian's Pen", from Doom.

Essentials

Blue key

Step forward in the starting area on to the water ahead, and it will drain down. Beware an ambush consisting of two shotgun guys. Kill them, then open the door but do not hurry to enter. Be prepared for a next ambush of another pair of shotgunners. Kill them and proceed further to lifts. Collect ammo and super shotgun and prepare for a couple awaiting on the both lifts: a hell knight and a baron of hell (it may depend on your skill). Flip the switch to lower the lifts and kill the enemies. Then ride either lift up to a new area. There, you will be in the open area with water pits. Get to the northern side by walking on the border around. Eliminate the enemies here, then descend down and take a watery corridor east. Proceed down the corridor killing all the disturbing enemies until you get to a taller room. Beware a chaingunners trap at the top. Enter a small door here. Press the switch in the room.

Backtrack to the very first watery room you entered. Enter the door that was closed before. Rise on the stairs and flip the switch. This will drain out a waterfall that blocks the way to the western part. Enter this corridor and take a path on your right, then straight. Descend on the very long stairs down to a room with three switches. Flip any one to reveal the rest part of the room. Be noted there are three chaingunners. Drop down in this room and walk on the long passageway to the west. In the next room, lower either lift here to the blue key. However, many shotgun guys will spawn on both lifts for some time. Proceed into the blue door in this room.

Exit

You will be in the slime room that is rather dangerous because of tough enemies (use the barrels; explode them, after that dispatch the revenants). Walk over the stepping daises in the middle to get up to a switch. Flip it to lower the bars in the other end of the room, therefore unlocking the lift. Use the lift. Finish off an enemy on the lift. Open a panel here to get to the familiar corridor.

Return to the first watery room. Rise on the stairs and turn the lever marked with two blue skull bars. This will unlock the exit portal in the area south. The wooden bars with blue flags decorated are open now. Go through and prepare for spawning of some tough enemies. After that, enter the exit teleporter.

Other points of interest

When you arrive to the exit area, you can use the teleporters located on the water underneath. Each one leads to the opposite side of the area regarding to you. You can therefore get faster on various sides and even avoid long-range attacks.

Secrets

  1. After lowering the waterfall at the north end of the map, follow the path to the right twice until you reach a very long staircase leading down. Before descending it, turn around and shoot the recessed wall. It will open, revealing a cache of goodies. (sector 81)
