Walkthrough

Map of Hardcore
Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Essentials

Grab the supplies and use what you can to kill the enemies present. You need to enter the portal in the southwest of the map, which is actually close to the start. You will be on one of the small pillars that had arch-viles on them. Cross to the other one to hear a door open. An arch-vile will be near the southeastern part of the map, and the green structure has a switch on it (in front of the switch is a blur artifact if you have not picked it up already). Flip this switch then go to the far north end of the map where the super shotgun is. You will find waves of revenants. By entering the super shotgun yard you also release another arch-vile as well as a cyberdemon in the previous yard. If you go into the sectors where the revenants were, you will also release two more arch-viles in the previous yards. Head back to the central green structure and the eastern side has a new switch to flip, which opens up a switch on the western side of the structure. Flipping this opens up two walls with spider masterminds, and a staggering amount of imps will teleport into the field from the south. Head for the northwest corner of the map, and you will see the yellow keycard. Use the pedestal its on to retrieve the key. Now go between the north and south yards, then turn west. You can use the bars to lower them to reach one of the areas that had a spiderdemon. Open the yellow door and flip the switch to obtain the blue keycard. Now do the same to the eastern side to get the red keycard, then return to the central green structure. The northern side of the structure has a red door which is the exit.

Secrets

  1. In the north part of the map, there are two alcoves full of revenants. Both alcoves have a misaligned wall. Open either to get a BFG9000 and an energy cell pack. (sector 60)
