MAP13: Pandemonium II is the thirteenth map of Obituary. It was designed by Thomas Möller.

Walkthrough[edit]

Essentials[edit]

Take the shotgun and kill the imps and mancubus ahead, then go to the north-east corner to find a switch that will lower a lift in the neighboring chamber to the west. Ride the lift up and kill any shotgun guys waiting above, then follow the path east across a couple of pillars before continuing north to a pentagram door. Open the door and kill the demons waiting behind it, blow up the barrel then drop down to a berserk pack and step on the spot that the barrel occupied to activate another lift, which goes down to a room with a wooden structure. Head west down some steps then follow the passage to a small door, open it and climb another staircase to enter a room with imps and zombiemen. Shoot the gargoyle switch in the middle of the room to open a closet with lost souls and a rocket launcher, then go back to the passage and proceed east past a lowered wall to find revenants and one or more chaingunners guarding a teleporter. The teleporter will send you to the wooden structure where you can collect the blue skull key.

With the blue key, press the gargoyle switch that has opened in the north-east corner of the room to lower the lift leading back to the demon room, then return to the starting room and open the blue bar at the north end. Walk west to a pair of doors and press the gargoyle switch that opens between them to open the way forward, then head north-west through the next room to reach a hall with a crucifix skylight. Take the north-west exit and kill the mancubus in the cage ahead, then go through the nearby door and walk forward until the floor lowers to reveal three spectres guarding a teleporter. Enter the teleporter to go to a narrow hallway with more spectres, then go straight forward to another teleporter that will take you to one or more chaingunners who are guarding the yellow skull key. The key is placed on a lift that goes down to a lava pit with some cacodemons; if you stay on the lift it will rise again after a few seconds.

Enter the teleporter again to go to a room south of the crucifix hall, then go back to that hall and open the yellow door at the north end to see a large tower ahead. Approach the tower to lower the outer wall, then step across to it and go inside to find a cyberdemon guarding the red skull key. After taking the key, leave the tower and drop to the ground below then fight through a crowd of demons to reach the red door in the north-east corner. Go through the door to enter a tall room and press the lion switches on the south side to lower a lift, ride the lift up and look north to see a platform with one to three barons of Hell on it. Step across to the ledge on the north side of the room, then head west to another door and open it to find the exit switch.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Open the south-east wall in the starting room to get a BFG9000 and two energy cell packs. (sector 214)
  2. After opening the blue bar, open the brick wall directly behind it to find a shotgun guy guarding a super shotgun and four stimpacks. (sector 311) Both the room and the brightly-lit sector behind the wall count as secrets.
  3. See secret #2. (sector 310)
  4. In the room west of the blue bar, press the south or east side of the middle column to lower a chainsaw. (sector 161)
  5. Get on secret #4 and wait for it to rise, then press the west wall to open a neighboring room to the south-west with shotgun guys, clips, shotgun shells, rockets, energy cells, a medikit, and a backpack. (sector 319)
  6. After passing through the red door, activate the lift on the south side of the next room and get on it. As the lift rises, enter the hole in the south-east corner to find a staircase with four energy cells and a plasma gun. (sector 344)

Bugs[edit]

The north-east button in the blue key room has an invisible trigger line (linedef 1477) placed in front of it that blocks use attempts, making the player have to get closer to the button than usually needed to get a successful press.

Similarly, the door to secret #2 is difficult to open due to the blue bar in front of it blocking use attempts. Notably, a button is placed inside this secret to open the bar, as otherwise a softlock would have occurred from another similar situation where the bar lowers after the player is in the secret and the door blocks use attempts on the bar.
