Walkthrough[edit]
Essentials[edit]
You begin in a room with four teleporters, surrounded by demons which will teleport into the room when you alert them. Collect the chainsaw and health bonuses to lower the teleporters, then enter the south-east teleporter and go south to a room with a metal column. Flip the switch on the column to raise a staircase in the room behind you (you will climb this later) then go west across a nukage pool to a gargoyle switch—a bridge will rise from the nukage behind you. The gargoyle switch is a trap and will drop you into a pit with demons—press it if you wish, then go north into a room with six columns and head west to another nukage pool containing lost souls. Enter the pool and go north to find another gargoyle switch, press it to raise a staircase behind you then go up the steps and press the lion switch at the top. Go back to the column room and press the gargoyle switch that has opened at the south-east end to lower a lift, ride it up then cross the bridge and head west past some monsters to a set of steps. Go down the steps to see the blue skull key on a pedestal, then enter the teleporter to go to the neighboring chamber which contains a switch that will lower the pedestal. Press the switch and return to the teleporter to get the key before it rises again.
Return to the starting room and enter the white teleporter, then follow the passage to a tall room with a pain elemental and zombies. Head down the steps to the lower level then climb the staircase you raised earlier to reach a platform with a gargoyle block; you can press the block to lower it, then run off the block to land on the ledge ahead. Go through the blue door at the south-west end of the ledge to enter a crate room, then go to the torch in the middle of the room and press the large crate south of it to lower a lift. Ride the lift to the upper level, which has three doors, then go through the south-western door to enter a red room with some lost souls. The red skull key is at the south end of the room, but taking it lowers the wall behind you to reveal demons and cacodemons.
Go back to the ledge overlooking the crate room and open the western door, kill any waiting spectres and mancubi then go through the red door at the south end to enter a columned room. Enter the narrow passage at the south end (a crusher will activate at the entrance) and kill the chaingunners on the moving floors on either side, then enter the eastern chamber and press the gargoyle switch here to raise a second switch in the western chamber. Press the second switch to open the columns and reveal revenants, imps, chaingunners and the yellow skull key, then go back to the crate room and use the key to open the south-eastern door. Go to the south end of the room to find two or three cacodemons guarding teleporters, kill them along with the monsters that emerge from the blood fountain behind you then enter the east teleporter to go to the exit room. Press the fake exit switch at the south end of the room to lower the walls on either side and reveal demons, then walk west to find the real exit switch.
Other points of interest[edit]
Secrets[edit]
Official[edit]
- Take the south-east teleporter in the starting room to enter a marble hallway. You can open a section of the west wall to reveal a demon guarding a super shotgun. (sector 58)
- In the north-west room with six columns, press the east side of the north-western column to lower it and reveal a teleporter. Enter the teleporter to get a box of rockets, a box of shotgun shells, and a berserk pack, then press the east wall to lower it and find a supercharge. (sector 321)
- Go to the east wall of the crate room and press the middle crates to lower a lift that goes down to health bonuses, stimpacks, shotgun shells, and a rocket. (sector 306) The north and south halves of the room count as separate secrets.
- See secret #3. (sector 204)
- Press the skull switch in the north-east corner of the red key room to find a megaarmor, shotgun shells, rockets, and stimpacks. (sector 314)
- Go through the western door above the crate room, then head up the steps at the north-west end of the next room to reach a ledge with a box of bullets. Open the damaged wall in the north-east corner to find four rockets, clips, shotgun shells, and stimpacks. (sector 309)
- Open the damaged west wall behind the red door to find 47 health bonuses. (sector 316)
- After opening the previous secret, go through the red door to return to the previous room. A new chamber has opened at the south-east end with demons, shotgun shells and a berserk pack. (sector 319)
- At the real exit switch, open the north wall and follow a trail of armor bonuses to a supercharge, a BFG9000, stimpacks, a box of shotgun shells, and a box of bullets. (sector 167)
Non-official[edit]
- Enter the south-east teleporter in the starting room, then step east to get a partial invisibility. You can open the north wall here to lower it and find a medikit.
Bugs[edit]
The blue door has an invisible trigger line (linedef 673) on the warehouse side blocking use attempts, making the player have to get closer to the door than normally necessary to get a successful use attempt.
The entrance (sector 331) to the blood fountain teleporter area is an unclosed sector, incorrectly incorporating a side from one of the nearby yellow skull pillars (linedef 1533), causing rendering oddities on that side.
The teleporter trap that makes monsters appear on the blood fountain past the yellow door (tag 40) is designed in a way that is very difficult for monsters to use unless the player backtracks to earlier parts of the map to manipulate the monsters into using their teleporters correctly.
