MAP15: Castle of Damnation is the fifteenth map of Obituary. It was designed by Thomas Möller.

Walkthrough[edit]
Essentials[edit]
Take the super shotgun and kill the chaingunners and shotgun guys you can see through the windows, then step on any corner of the starting room to lower a lift and reach the surrounding courtyard. Flip the switch on the east side of the courtyard to lower a lift on the west side, ride that lift up then follow the steps round to the blue skull key above the switch. A crushing floor will rise in front of the blue key when you get close to it, but it is possible to step over that floor and reach the key if you are fast enough. Otherwise, go east into the next room and kill two waiting mancubi, then flip the switch at the east end of this area to open a wall leading to the blue key.
Lower the lift in the courtyard again and open the door behind it to reach a T-junction, then open the northern door and go straight forward to a teleporter. Enter the teleporter to go to the neighboring tunnel and follow it east past some demons to a gargoyle switch, press it then retrace your steps to the T-junction and open the blue door to find a staircase. Climb the steps and go east until you reach a well then drop into it to find the red skull key—as you climb out of the well, watch out for demons and one or two arachnotrons that have been released to the east. Open the door west of the well to reach a lava lake, then run west through the lava to reach a gargoyle switch that will raise a bridge across the lake. Cross the bridge to the southern building and climb the steps to a red door, go through it then head east to a circular tower. You can step between the battlements to reach a platform to the north with the yellow skull key on it.
Run back to the circular tower and step east to land in a pit. Follow the tunnel to a skull switch and press it, then return to the pit and enter the white teleporter to go back to the southern building in the lava lake. Go through the red door again to see that a wall has opened ahead which leads to a small maze. Enter the maze and go east, north, east, south and west to find a staircase, then climb it to see a large yellow door which leads to a circular fort. Enter the fort and fight through the crowd of monsters appearing inside it, then press either of the gargoyle switches on the east and west sides to activate lifts that go to the upper level. Head round to the south side of the fort and cross the bridge here to reach the central tower, then press the lion switch to lower a lift that goes up to a teleporter guarded by a baron of Hell.
The teleporter will send you to a room on the east side of the map with some shotgun guys. Press the gargoyle switch in the north-east corner, then retrace your steps to the skull switch east of the circular tower. The bars behind it have opened, letting you reach the exit switch to MAP16: Conclusion.

Other points of interest[edit]
A supercharge is hidden behind the tower on the west side of the lava lake, while a megaarmor and a second supercharge are hidden on the east side of the southern building.
Secrets[edit]
Official[edit]
- After climbing the stairs behind the blue door you will reach a blood pool with metal pillars on either side. You can open the first pillar on the south side, which is wider than the others, to find a rocket launcher, a box of rockets, stimpacks, health bonuses, shotgun shells, and a rocket. (sector 322)
- Taking the red key opens a closet to the east containing arachnotrons and demons. Enter the closet and press the section of the west wall that juts out to find a lift going down to a plasma gun and two energy cell packs. (sector 364)
- Enter the tunnel leading to the normal exit and follow it to a bend. You can open the south-eastern wall at the bend to find a spectre guarding a chainsaw, stimpacks, rockets, a box of shotgun shells, and an energy cell pack. (sector 346)
Non-official[edit]
- After teleporting to the room with the switch that opens the normal exit, open the section of the west wall that has moss on it to enter a new area with cacodemons and various items including a supercharge and megaarmor. Press the gargoyle switch at the north end of this area to open a passage by the switch that opens the normal exit, then open the wall at the south end of the passage to reveal a water teleporter to the secret exit.
Bugs[edit]
The teleporter traps (sectors 159 and 443) that transport monsters to the circular fort are designed in a way that is very difficult for the monsters to use unless the player repeatedly moves back and forth from the fort to the maze area just north of it, manipulating the monsters to use their teleporters properly and attack.
