Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Essentials[edit]

You begin in a room with a chainsaw, shotgun, chaingun and supercharge along with boxes of bullets and shells. Open the door to confront some demons, along with a revenant on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare skill levels, then go down the steps and follow the hallway past some zombiemen until you get to the south end. Kill any waiting imps then press the eye switch opposite the door, which will open a chamber to the north containing spectres, then go inside that chamber and press the lion switch in the north wall to lower some bars outside. Go back to the door and open it, then drop into the valley below and follow the path east and north past various monsters to a staircase.

Go up the stairs to find yourself on a ledge surrounding the titular "carcass pit" - there are arachnotrons and shotgun guys on this ledge, mancubi in the pit and a cyberdemon overlooking the entire area. Drop into the pit and enter the blood pool to collect the blue skull key, which will cause many imps, demons and Hell knights (plus revenants on Hurt Me Plenty or higher) to teleport in, then climb up the east or west steps to get out of the pit before heading to its south-west end to drop down a hole. Kill any imps, shotgun guys and knights waiting ahead then press the skull switch they were guarding to lower a teleporter behind you - the teleporter will send you to the cyberdemon's platform, telefragging it. Step south to collect a megasphere, flip the skull lever here then step back on the teleporter to return to the pit.

Climb out of the pit and go to the south-east corner to collect the yellow skull key, which will cause an arch-vile and four to 12 mancubi to teleport to the ledge. Fight your way to the north side and open the yellow skull bars, collect a berserk pack then push past some imps to reach the exit teleporter.

Other points of interest[edit]

Leave the starting room then follow the hallway south, east and north until you climb some steps to another door. Behind this door is a revenant guarding two boxes of bullets and shotgun shells, along with a megaarmor (which does not appear in cooperative play).

As soon as you drop down the hole leading to the blue key switch, look east to see a white teleporter. This will send you to a small cavern on the south side of the map with a rocket launcher and eight rockets. Slowly walk out of the cavern and you will drop onto a gray rock with a backpack and clips.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Near the yellow key, look south to a metal column and shoot at its north side. Doing so opens the column. Now jump to the open column, and carefully hug the wall until you reach the megasphere. (sector 459)
