MAP31: Divine Inferno is the secret map of Obituary. It was designed by Thomas Möller.[1]

Walkthrough[edit]

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Essentials[edit]

This map is divided into four round areas. You begin in the southern area.

Enter the building in front of you to see four barons of Hell guarding a teleporter; when you fire your weapons a large group of zombies, imps, lost souls and demons will emerge from it. Once the area is clear, enter the teleporter to go to the north area then press the two gargoyle switches in front of you to open the east and west areas; the east area contains shotgun guys, bazooka men, imps and revenants (plus an arch-vile on Hurt Me Plenty skill level or higher), while the west area contains chaingunners and mancubi (plus an arch-vile on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare). Press the four skull switches in each area to raise a pit in the north area then step across it to reach the exit switch.

Secrets[edit]

  1. Open the left-hand wall at the exit switch to find a plasma gun, a shotgun, a megasphere, a box of rockets, two medikits, and two boxes of shotgun shells. (sector 59)

Bugs[edit]

The sector south of the exit (sector 46) is raised by pressing eight separate switches. If you fall into this sector before it is fully raised, you will be stuck.
