Other points of interest[edit]

Secrets[edit]

  1. In the blue key area, go onto the rocky ledge and go right, sidling along until you reach the berserk pack. (sector 12)
  2. When you first enter the large watery chasm area, look at the teleporter you came out of. The north side of the teleporter has a switch. Flip it, then go to the eastern side of this area (you may have to press the northwestern gargoyle switch first in order to access this area if it has not been pressed already). Go to the second water pit and approach the teleporter, but go to its north side instead of entering it right away. A hidden switch here opens a passage behind you, allowing you to reach the soul sphere behind the cage. (sector 176)
  3. Along the caverns in the western part of the larger portion of the map, you will find a dead marine and a blood pool. Some of the blood is seeping towards a wall. Open this wall to find a light amplification visor. (sector 254)
  4. After opening the red bars, use the long lift and ride it up. Follow the trail of ammo and open the wall to reveal a room with a teleporter which leads behind the cage. From where you teleport, turn west and carefully make a jump to the catwalk below (you need to be accurate, as there is no way out of the lava if you fall). When you make it, keep jumping west and you should reach the alcove with the megasphere. (sector 286)
  5. Once you open up the red key, backtrack to where it was located and there will also be an alcove with a megaarmor open. Press on the wall behind the megaarmor to open another alcove, this one holding an invulnerability (or partial invisibility on Ultra-Violence or higher). (sector 509)
  6. When you first enter the large watery chasm area, look at the teleporter you came out of. The north side of the teleporter has a switch. Flip it, then go to the eastern side of this area (you may have to press the northwestern gargoyle switch first in order to access this area if it has not been pressed already). Go north all the way to the metal ledge and ride it up, then continue, this time going southward hugging the wall until you find an opening with a shotgun guy on a teleporter. This teleporter takes you to a non-damaging lava sector, and the next teleporter allows you to reach the demonic platform (this platform will have two arch-viles on Hurt Me Plenty, while the cyberdemon only appears on Hey, Not Too Rough or lower). On this platform are a megasphere and a box of rockets. Note that the teleporter to this platform only works on Ultra-Violence or higher, see Bugs. (sector 718)

Bugs[edit]

It is possible to get stuck inside the non-damaging lava sector en route to Secret #6 if one is playing on Hurt Me Plenty or lower. This is because the teleport destination thing (Thing 1063) is only flagged for Ultra-Violence or higher.

It is also impossible to finish the map normally without cheating once you get to the blood pit. Once you grab the chainsaw, the rock wall will lower revealing more of the caverns ahead. You are supposed to shoot the brown rock walls down to proceed, but the second one you come across (linedef 213) will not open up regardless of whether or not you shoot at it. This issue probably only exists in modern source ports.
