Macil stands ready to brief the player in the conquerored Order castle

Macil is a character from Strife and later he becomes one of the bosses who hold a sigil piece, therefore an enemy. He is leader of The Front.

Spoiler Warning: Plot details follow.

Macil is possessed by a Spectre. This makes him a dangerous maniac, searching for pieces of Sigil. Later in the game, the player must kill Macil who sent numerous people to their deaths.

Until the Order's Castle is captured, it is impossible to actually kill Macil, as he is invulnerable to damage. However, he can be killed any time after destroying the Programmer: doing so will cause his Spectre will rise out and attack. He has 95 Hit points when initially fought. Being possessed by a Spectre causes him to be invulnerable to damage from normal weapons: only the second Sigil piece or better can harm him. It is impossible to use the first Sigil piece, because he is immune to its attack and it would prevent the story advancing properly.
