Mayan Temple (MAYAN667.WAD) is a single-level PWAD designed by Paul Turnbull (Stenger) and released in December 1994. This map stands out for making use of new textures with a Mayan theme. Some of these textures would make reappearance in TNT: Evilution.

It's an early example of a Mesoamerican map styled WAD.

EssentialsEdit

You start this level on the outskirts of a Mayan complex. Go to the center of the level and cross the plaza. In the middle of the plaza is a platform with a chaingun, but if you pick it up you will make several enemies teleport around you. Climb up to the highest pyramid; at the top, in a small room, is the yellow key, but it will be defended by several lost souls and barons of Hell. Once you have the key, go back to the center of the map and go to the north wall. In the middle you will find the yellow door.

The yellow door leads to a small hallway where you will find the red key, defended side by side by several former sergeants. Once you pick it up, several enemies will be released in the center of the map, so move forward with caution.

With the red key, go to the next direction towards the east wall; you will find the red door. Enter the passage and go straight through. The path has no crossroads so you won't get lost. You will reach a kind of religious hall where there will be several imps, former sergeants and barons of Hell. The exit is on the north wall, in the middle. Open the door and then press the final switch to exit the map.

SecretsEdit

  1. In the north of the main area, near the yellow door is a hexagonal nukage pool. It is possible to walk through the King Tut texture here to obtain a medikit. (sector 41)
  2. West of the pyramid with the yellow key is the shadow of the pyramid on the ground. The shadow points to a secret door leading to a passageway with three visible doors. There is a secret door on the right just after the second of the three doors, leading to an area overlooking the rocket launcher area with a box of bullets, three rockets, and some monsters. (sector 146)
  3. The western wall next to the third of the three doors mentioned above is also a secret door, leading to another area overlooking the rocket launcher area, containing 8 shotgun shells and (on medium and hard skills) a stimpack, as well as some monsters. (sector 145)
  4. The second of the three doors mentioned above leads to a teleporter to an area south of the main area. In this area is a tall red firestick, to the north-east of which is a fake wall leading to a chainsaw. (sector 165)
  5. North of the red key is a secret door leading to an imp (two on hard skill), a stimpack, and a box of bullets. On multiplayer there is also 4 shotgun shells, a shotgun, and a plasma gun. There is also a teleporter to the yellow key area. (sector 54)
  6. After going through the red door, continue straight ahead to the wall. This wall is a secret door leading to an armor (not on hard skill) and a shotgun guy. (sector 67)
